It’s my newborn nephew, Shaun’s first month so my cousin held a full month party for him! Was looking forward to it because my intern life has been a dull one and there’s not many plans ever since the Ilight excursion with Cheryl and Flora. So meeting my relatives and the cute ones are what I have been looking forward to a lot!

Congrats on having a new addition to your family! Hope Lucas and Shaun grow up to be the best of brothers! And be handsome!

For the past hour, I took a rest at the patio behind the clubhouse with Flora and my dad. We have been correcting each other’s English. My dad la! Wanted to text someone but got us to proof read his text first. Then we got into a debate about grammar. Dad’s that grammar police who doesn’t even know his grammar. Then we thought where did those 2 kids went for that past hour. It has been so quiet. Then speaking about caocao, caocao arrive LOL.

We were actually afraid of what’s behind the plants but when we went out to look it’s actually a huge back alley to some shops/office outside the condo which are still open.

Cheryl walked so fast all of us had a hard time catching up, especially mom. But we all didn’t want to miss the show as we just couldn’t find a good spot as we didn’t get to go earlier to chope seats due to dinner. So we ran to quickly get a spot that can just see a part of it. So here we are at the stairs where we can see 1/3 of the whole show. But that’s good enough HAHA it really seemed like a complete show at where we are standing. My mom like quite healthy at 55? She like never out of breath while Flora and I like damn tired. But of course, my mom lives by going out whenever she can. She is used to walking at shopping malls.

The show is so cool but we only managed to catch 2 minutes of it. And the huge crowd kinda distracted me from the show. It would have been better if we got a good view of it and not have to deal with the crowd HAHA. I think I am asking for too much.

Speaking of the crowd, it was so packed we had a hard time navigating. But since we were left with Good Friday to go out together (exhibition ends few days later), guess we have to deal with it.

We  started walking away from MBS for the other exhibition sites.

 

BEAUTIFUL CBD~ Actually I can actually come here more often since my intern place is actually like not that far away by MRT and bus. Maybe on a Friday night or something where I can actually explore freely with no time limits to take photos and go on an adventure. Too many places I want to go but never got to.

We walked to the the next place and these bikes drove past us. It’s blasting songs and the lights kinda make the dreadful crowded atmosphere so much happier.

We arrived at this music exhibit where once we cross under a railing, music plays. I think Cheryl and I look like fools (Ehem…sorry, just me?) running across constantly indiscreetly.

We saw Uncle Ringo right there! Super excited to see those rides that I never tried for 9 years. The last… and only time I went to a theme park was in KL with Flora in 2007 #tbt. Still remembering being pissed at Flora that day I was ignoring her throughout the rides HAHA. My mom never liked the idea of these rides for safety reasons… Yeah my boring childhood…

We finally saw this! I like this colour the best! Looks pleasant! It is very hard to capture when the light turns to a certain colour that looks pleasing. Always have to wait for a good timing if you don’t want to look like a Smurf or a tomato. We ended up always waiting for Blue when it turns to white then red. But turns out the best colour after filtering goes to the photos in Purple/Pink light. Which was this photo!

We then continued our walk. We made up our mind to stop at Esplanade instead of making an entire round back to MBS since it was getting quite late and my mom was worried of Flora and Cheryl going back home at late night alone after they split at Woodlands.

Guess what we saw?! The MERLION! Call me suaku or what but as far as I could remember, I never saw Merlion in real life before. Maybe as a baby or todler I did? I never asked my mom. Anyway, I was super excited because I did not expect the Merlion to be that gigantic. You never know how tall and high something can be until you are at its foot.

We said goodbye to Flora and Cheryl who took a bus from Esplanade. It will be a long journey so my mom instructed Flora who’s still very young to call when she’s home. Lucky got Cheryl and Flora have each other throughout the long ride. Cheryl is the Jiejie who always goes home from MBS after work to Woodlands so she can take care of Flora.

Mom and I took a bus from the same bus stop to Boon Keng MRT where we took an MRT home. Since we were at Boon Keng, mom and I got ourselves Ice Creams. I liked taking buses, especially at night. Quiet, peaceful and there’s night scenery to enjoy.

Finally home! Edited my photos after bathing and I was quite happy with the photos. After all, all memories must be kept. Silly photos make these memories more worth while because you can always capture that moment of natural happiness. Capture a loved one’s feelings that shows in a photo. Because a photo is more than a thousand words can ever convey.

 

So today commemorates our second meeting as a trio! Had a fun though tiring day! Looking forward to our next meeting with my cousins! See yall til next time!

25 Mar ’16 : MBS with Mom, Cheryl and Flora

P.S: It will be a super long post so I seperated 250316 in 2 posts- MBS in the evening and Ilight Exhibition at night.

I was scrolling my Facebook page and Cheryl’s ilight post caught my eye. The lights were so pretty and the kaleidoscopic mirror place is so cool! I asked Flora if she wanted to go. We wanted to rope in Cheryl but we thought she wouldn’t want to go a second time. But later Cheryl offered to bring us to the arts exhibition at Arts Science Museum after I posted a photo of our last trip and asking at the captions when can we go out again since it’s been a long time since we all last met. Thank god for the photo! She have friends there and has worked there before as well so she really recommended us to go being the artsy person she is. She is also currently working in one of the retail stores in MBS so she can bring us around after work. And it’s more fun with more people.

Just got myself a digital camera so I was really desperate for a pretty place to take photos. And Ilight is easily the place where photos can turn out very eye-catching. Never did I really tried Night Photography so we were really super on HAHA.

So Flora and I planned the trip for 2 weeks and it was never confirmed due to clashes between my work and Flora’s schooling schedules. Cheryl joined and we chose Good Friday but we expected the huge crowd. Flora had no school… Cheryl was let off earlier at 6pm and I had no work that day. It took me quite some time to convince my mom for me to go. She did not trust me with Flora under my care since she’s 2 years younger. But with Cheryl on board later, she kinda felt more assured and initially agreed until she was worried over the bombing few days before, she nearly did not allow me to go again. But thankfully, she said she can follow along so she feels more assured and less bored.

It turns out we realised we will have to wait super long to go in to the museum since we planned to go on Good Friday which is a public holiday. So we sadly cancelled the museum plans and just go for the external exhibits. Flora and I actually planned to go Gardens by the Bay while waiting for Cheryl to end work at 6 but my dad told me mass for Good Friday starts at 3pm so I had to forgo that plan too.

So finally the day arrived! Dad and I went for mass first. Then my mom and I headed for MBS. I was holding my own bag and another bag for my camera which wasn’t even necessary. I hardly used the camera accessories that day.

We arranged to meet Flora at the MRT. Tsk… she said she will wear nicer for today and asked me to wear better too but what’s with that shirt…

My mom wanted to shop around first while waiting for Cheryl. Sigh… Her shopping mode is activated.

We got into Guess, her favourite shop. She says Guess clothing quality is superior and nothing else is so yeah..

She said she wanted to try using the camera for a mirror selfie shot so here it is!

This Guess outlet sold nicer clothes than the other Guess outlets. More younger looking and maybe some classier. But the price is more expensive.

We then walked around to look for our dinner destination and Cheryl’s shop. I like MBS so much it gives off a Venice feel with the boats and architecture.

We finally found Tin Tai Fung and passed by Cheryl’s shop where she told us to quickly reserve while waiting for her since she saw the huge crowd waiting outside before.

Cheryl came after she was let off from work. HAHA we still waited for so long after she came…

We finally went in and the food came after a while. We were served warm green tea first and as we waited for the food, Cheryl was telling my mom about her work problems. I guess every workplace has its politics. Anyways, we talked about that and also Flora’s O levels HAHA. Cheryl and I experienced it before so we were all acting senior and giving her tips and advices. And my mom kept asking Cheryl about getting work after graduating as well as getting into university…

And finally, thankfully for the food, their uni conversation was broken and we tucked in… after the 3 of us took photos.

We were all fried rice maniacs so we bought 2 different ones for all of us to share. This is Chicken Chop Fried Rice.

And this is Prawns Fried Rice.

Prawn Siew Mai. Super unique. To be honest, when it first came, I thought it was Xiao Long Bao because it does not look like Siew Mai and it had the soup inside it.

Beef ramen. That my mom ordered for herself but actually planned to share it for those who can eat beef. Not me HAHA.

Xiao Long Bao. All of us were trying so hard not to break it.

Our favourites. Guo Tie which also has the Xiao Long Bao soup in it. AAnd it’s crispy outside.

We walked towards the exit where there’s a water light show along the river. Cheryl being our tour guide brought us out and looked for a spot where we all can get a view of the show.

24 Mar ’16 : Lantern lamp & Clip On Lens

After work, my mom was at my cousin’s place where she usually waits for me before we go back home together. I have a direct bus from my office to her place where Boon Keng MRT is. Then we usually take the MRT back home after we meet at Boon Keng MRT. But that day, we went to City Square with my cousin and her mom. Adrien and his family needed to go home so they could not join us.

We had Saizeriya for dinner. And it was my treat since it is only nice to give others a treat when I get my first pay. Besides my aunt had a part in getting me my intern clothing I needed to thank her.

I ate the sliced pork but this time they put so much peppercorn I didn’t like it. My aunt however ate the cheese chicken steak it was quite nice. Like quite unexpected because I dislike meat with cheese together. But it turned out quite matching for this dish. We also ordered the potato omelette to share which everyone liked but were too full from eating their own dishes.

I got myself clip on lens and a lantern lamp from a external vendor in the basement. We first caught sight of the lamp from far away and my mom, having like anything that makes her house prettier, pulled us there HAHA. But I like the lamp too it looks so christmasy! I had to choose between our selected 2 designs- a deer and a house. The house design looked cheaper? Like no christmasy and classy feel. So I chose the deer despite my mom liking the house one more. Trust my taste pls. My cousin got herself the house design lamp so we got 2 for $30. Then, I saw lenses. The clip on kinds! For $10-12 if I still rmb. I kinda like macro shots for nature photos. So I really wanted to buy it but didn’t know where to get it besides Carousell. They don’t sell the macro lens alone. It comes with fisheye lens. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t like fisheye effect. It distorts everything, especially it makes faces even fatter and wide. But anyways I can only buy it in pairs so I just got it.

We shopped around for electronics since my cousin wanted to get a good TV for her new room. And we also shopped at Uniqlo and New Look for clothing but didn’t get anything.

After a long walk, it was already 9.30pm?! We were near Toast Box and we got redeemed vouchers to use. So we all had some supper. Can’t believe they still can eat HAHA. I thought earlier on they were all so full they couldn’t walk.

 

We finally went home after that and we tested out new lamp! It can change colours automatically gradually or you can use the remote to change to a fixed colour. It is quite awesome because the remote offers so many colour options. 16 colours that it looked like some eyeshadow palette. I personally liked the white and light blue light the best because it looked the most natural.

 

I also tested the new lenses but somehow the macro lens looked like a fisheye lens except the distortion is not that strong. And fisheye kinda looks cool when I get to try it. Like some pinhole camera. Flora also had one and she went to clip on the computer camera the effect look so cool. I can see her entire room as it’s also wide-angle. I guess I can use it for landscape photos! But Macro doesn’t seem to be macro at all. Disappointed… It was so hard to focus because of the multiple layers of lenses.

Gotta sleep early for the next day. It will be so much walking.

21 Feb ’16 : Shanell’s 4th birthday party

Dad fetched grandma over for lunch first before we all go to my cousin’s place for Shanell’s birthday party together in the late afternoon. We made Chicken and Mushrooms, Vegetables, Gyoza and Fried scallops. The scallops were so much better since my mom learnt from my aunt that she needed to boil it first before pan-frying. It’s less salty and the fishy taste is gone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANELL! It’s been great knowing you for 4 years! You may be annoying at times but that is what makes you endearing… at least for me! Grow up to be a good girl and grow prettier by the day too! You precious gem awww stay happy and innocent! (Don’t grow up! It’s a trap!)

Uncle was using cousin-in-law’s digital camera to help shoot photos since he got photography experience. He actually asked me to help take since he know I liked shooting photos but I kinda felt burdened to handle an expensive camera when I know nothing about operating a digital camera. So my uncle took over the job since he can do better than me.

But I really wanted to try the camera so after eating, I asked my uncle to teach me some basics. I know what ISO does and I tried using the ISO settings in my phone. But aperture and shutter speed I do not really understand it and try it since my phone does not have settings for those.

He taught me what aperture was as well as shutter speed. I tried using the digital camera. It’s not just about knowing what aperture is. Navigating the camera settings is already a tough work. Auto mode, “P” mode and other modes that I already forgot. But nonetheless, I tried it on Shanell, my model who’s dressed so prettily today. The pictures turned out pretty at least for my standards HAHA!

After a photography lesson from my uncle, we went off for home. That was the end of my short affinity with cousin-in-law’s digital camera…I’ll be back to visit you! Just wait! HAHAHA not to forget my cuties~

Shanell insisted on sending us off so she suddenly appeared with my cousin and Renice as we walked to the carpark. Suddenly, Shanell ran to the playground so Flora decided it’s timely to  go off to the exercise station when the rest of us is going to move on to the carpark. That’s it Flora, GOODBYE!

Then, we went to my house for visiting next. We didn’t do much there and spend about an hour there only. But I found out my cousin’s maid knew how to play guitar after Cheryl and Flora wanted to try playing the guitar. Should have asked for some pointers… She’s quite friendly! Hope to see her soon.

She wanted to take photo with Cheryl a OOTD photo but Cheryl went off first to her dad’s side so yeah its just Flora! Found this place. It’s not as good as other places surrounding my house but we didn’t have much time as we were rushing to Vanessa’s home. We initially wanted to go to the carpark rooftop where there’re greenery and benches.

On our way to Vanessa’s house. Flora who insisted on bringing along my coloring book to colour and occupy time, carried it herself HAHAHA. Sorry la is you want to bring de… I already carrying my laptop bag.

When I reached Vanessa’s house, I saw her newly renovated room. Her storage is all under her platform bed. It’s like a treasure chest with so many compartments with a matress on top. Her room ended up looking so simple and clean. Only her wardrobe and her bed which is attached to the table. Freaking cool HAHAHA like so zen the platform bed.

STEP sia HAHAHA Vanessa didn’t have beehoon made by her dad earlier because she didn’t like it. So we 3 went to Macs to buy dinner. We actually wanted KFC since it was nearer and we didn’t have to cross the street. But Vanessa didn’t like KFC so we went to Macs across the streets. Then we were greeted with a long queue. We remembered not seeing any in KFC so we went back to KFC. Then we found out KFC was closing that was why. So we went to Macs for the 2nd time…. sigh… Oh well, at least we walked off some calories.

Today, I’m glad we finally had the initiative to make the first step regardless of whose fault it was. However, some people just wouldn’t fulfil their promise and I just felt was it because of something else you asked us to forgive you or were you truly sorry? Because you did not change as your promised. You went back to your ways right after we made that step to forgive you. Anyway, we all know now…. It’s not us who were unwilling….. It’s someone else.

7 Feb ’16 : 2016 CNY Eve

Chinese New Year Eve! The day everyone gathers with their family for reunion meal! This year is quite unique for me. It’s the first time I have reunion meal for both my dad’s side and mom’s side. My dad’s side didn’t have reunion meals on the eve. We just ate a simple lunch on the first day of CNY every year. So this year’s CNY eve is a busy day for my parents and me. We are going for reunion lunch with my dad’s side and dinner with my mom’s.

Dishes~ We brought the roasted duck and chicken but there was too much so they decided to keep the chicken for I think tomorrow’s CNY lunch while visiting. My favorite of the dishes is the tomato pork at the top left! As well as the peanut lotus root soup my grandma made.

Baby Lucas~ Can’t believe its been a year and 3 months since his birth. And we’re welcoming his baby brother in another month or 2. Wah then we have 3 boys and 2 girls in the generation after us. Too used to having just Adrien And Shanell these 2 kids. Then one year ago, Lucas and Renice joined the family. Now another one. Soon it’s gonna be even noisier omg. Shanell and Adrien are tough to handle already. Lucas seemed opposite though. Super quiet and behaves well. BUT WE NEVER KNOW… Adrien, as I remembered, wasn’t like that as a baby/toddler. Renice is learning from her naughty siblings already. At age 1, she already has a temper and knows how to choose people. Totally can imagine when the youngest unborn boy is about 2 years, Renice and Lucas will be 4 years old, Shanell 6 years old and Adrien a Primary 2 boy HAHAHA. I think by then Adrien will tone down a bit and won’t be as noisy but really there will be 3 more joining the noisy gang even with 1 leaving the noisy gang. Hope they grow up to be well behaved children.

Outside of Chinatown Point after dinner! We initially wanted to take a walk around but seeing the crowd, we were dissuaded. So we took a train back to Boon Keng where my dad parked his car. (HAHA He didn’t want to travel by car here because of the difficulty in getting available carpark lots)

We went to a florist at Punggol to buy some CNY flowers and pots and soil for my Morning Glory. So cute! Got this mini playground for kids there.

From the first florist, we got ourselves a pot of sunflowers, an airplant to purify the air in our toilet, 1 big pot, 3 small pots and soil!

At our 2nd florist… These mini potted plants are very cute and kinda artsy-ish but quite expensive. So just see, no buy.

3rd florist: FLOWER GALORE

Mom bought a $20 flower from Holland. Sure it looks unique but I thought do we need it at such a price? It does look pretty but I thought it’s not worth it for that price. When she brings home and places it on our dining table it’s so pretty and considering it lasts twice the lifespan of a usual flower… oh well…

After bathing, I decided to try the hair serum capsule from Flora. Never tried it before but my mom knew how to apply. So she applied it on the ends of my hair and massaged it to give it warmth for it to be absorbed better? HAHAHA

Less frizzy and smooth! HAHA My hair was never this nice besides BCOMM photoshoot. Will be using it again! And ask Flora to buy for me in Malaysia when her mom goes there.

 

12 Dec 2015 : Cousin’s housewarming

Woke up at 11am… Mom was already cooking lunch when I got out of the room. Sorry mom😂

My grandma and dad came back for lunch. Skyped flora after that and let my grandma see her.

We went to Seletar Mall before going to my cousin’s new place to buy the cuties’ Christmas presents. I ended up buying myself a backpack for school since its really cheap at $20 for the design. Quality seems good but I can’t be too sure for now. But it’s worth trying at just 20 dollars😊

Also bought Christmas decorations for our house including a candle holder, a wall decoration as well as a weird looking mini tree.

Not forgetting Renice’s Christmas gift and Anthea’s, a money bank.

I really wanted this too but it’s not worth it as it’s so small for something that is $4.90.

We had delifrance for tea! We got a set of 2 sandwiches and 2 coffee at $13. Add a bowl of mushroom soup for 2 dollars.

I think this is the best dish my mom ever cooked. Better than my favourite pepper chicken! Sweet from the carrots, salty from the oyster sauce.

Flora came to give me my stuff that I bought with her on Zalora! A little disappointed with the sweater material. It’s not that it’s not of good quality but it’s the kind that will stick to your skin when you’re sweating. Not good for Singapore’s weather. Maybe it’s okay if I wear it in really cold places like lecture theatres.

Renice was about to sleep so my mom placed her on my bed and she drifted to sleep… until Adrien came in and woke her up… so she couldn’t sleep and ended up playing with her siblings.

And then there’s Adrien who’s playing the guitar. Haha where did he learn the rock and roll shouting from?

She wanted to be model so yeah…

Their parents came to pick them up at 4.30pm and everyone went to Seletar Mall to eat. I couldn’t go because I needed to study and do BCOMM already.

Couldn’t start when they were here since they wouldn’t leave me alone (I’m so likable😉) and my computer (my computer as well)… But it’s thanks to them I got a break from my studies! Made my day with these cuties. Except for the times they made me mad hahaha Adrien nearly used my guitar to hit his sister. 😧

Trying out my new bag and sweatshirt! The sweatshirt made me feel so stuffy. I think I’ll only wear it in aircon.
