1 May ’16: Suki-ya with family

I have to say we had great time digging into a pot of hot savoury soup with That day’s shabu shabu meal was quite a spontaneous one. Dad’s mobile contract is expiring so we went to renew it with a new phone. So we decided to go to Tampines Starhub branch  that day. And we came across Suki-ya!

We decided to get the phone first since it’s still quite early for lunch. My mom had been asking me if I wanted to get the phone instead since my phone is running out of space. Which I thought it’d be a waste since I just bought my phone last April. My mom’s phone is still relatively new since she got it late last year. And then there’s my dad who insists on keeping his current phone. While he didn’t say anything about not wanting to change his phone initially, he said he wanted a large screen because it will be easier for him to look at and the phone has to be good for playing audio. So we got recommended LG G5! He was quite satisfied except for the screen size as it is not as big as his current phone’s despite it being the largest among the ones that is suitable for him. So while we wait for our turn for the contract renewal after taking the queue number, we shopped at H&M just opposite.

I was looking for another turtleneck top because I am kinda falling for turtlenecks. It gives a simple top some edge as compared to just a simple tee. There was not any turtleneck that I liked there but one striped crop top with long sleeves. And it’s cheap for it being $14.90. Hence, I got that top and headed back to Starhub at the perfect timing!

Fast forward to after we got our hands on the phone, we looked around for any food outlets. There was hardly any above L1 that interests us. It was either food court or fast food. So we went to the basement which was also mostly fast food except… SUKI-YA! There wasn’t even a consideration. I headed right in! HAHA so this is my parents’ first time having shabu shabu and they were pretty much clueless as they never had steamboat in buffet style before. I told them the sliced meat was to be ordered through the waiter whereas the other ingredients and rice could be taken from the counter unlike KBBQ where we take the meat from the counter too.

We were asked which soup base we wanted. For sure the shabu shabu and another soup base which I cannot remember HAHA for sure it is not sukiyaki, the other spicy or miso soup bases which is kinda weird as that’s all the soup bases they have there? I remember it’s pork bone broth but I researched and it’s not in the menu eh HAHA.

While waiting for the meat to be served and for the soup to boil, we got our ingredients. I told them the cheese meatballs are very good so we got more of that. Then the usual eggs, beancurd, mushrooms and veggies. My mom loves taupok so she got that as well. My dad didn’t like mushrooms but mom and I were like “EAT! EVERYTHING ALSO MUST EAT!” So we YOLO just put mushrooms in both soup bases HEHE.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We got the meat (chicken and pork) and quickly put them in to be cooked. We made sure the meat was cooked before we could start eating.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yums in the tums!

Egg whites

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My dad who looks like he’s not enjoying but he really is enjoying. We are the foodie father  and daughter duo you know?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I really liked the ramen. The ramen was infused with the soup flavour. I prefer the pork bone broth (as I remember it to be) as it’s more tasty.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mom!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Dongfen! My mom’s favourite again! She very Chinese-style when it comes to food HAHA.

My dad had to go back to work after lunch so he went off first while we walked around. It was so much shopping we went to 3 different malls that area.

We basically got health geranium bracelets for dad, mom, popo and me as well as a doll for Shanell and Renice.

Time really flies when busy so before we knew it, night fell… We were so tired and moody after spending so much money but I guess it’s worth it if it’ really gonna help boost our healths in the long run. After all it’s a lifetime investment. Buy once and you can wear it for the rest of your lives.

We decided since dad is fetching, we go to Popo’s house to give her the Geranium bracelet we bought.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Someone’s liking it!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Someone’s present!

And as for the phone, guess what? My dad didn’t feel like changing his phone so he passed it to my mom instead. HAHA then my mom was like anything lor she gets the new phone she also happy HAHA.

After a while, we went back home but not before a Mac feast! Since we didn’t have dinner on time after a filling lunch session, we ate supper instead. And not without skyping Flora while munching. Jealous much Flora?

Long day but satisfying. Though we really have to start saving up after spending that much money! Give me the motivation to start saving! Good day and see you next time!

30 Apr ’16: Crepe cake 1st try

LEMME TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE THESE DELICIOUS, MOUTH-WATERING GOODNESS! Crepe cakes~ Nah kidding I am just a rookie trying to make this from a buzzfeed video recipe. It turned out great (or at least that’s what I think).

So firstly, I got the recipe from Buzzfeed Video which features a mille crepe cake but since I was trying for the first time, I figured it’s better if I start off simple by doing a monoflavoured one first. I got my ingredients ready: Eggs, flour, milk, butter, jam, peanut butter, sugar and that’s all about I remember. I actually wanted to get icing sugar as a topping but was afraid I got too much ingredients for my first try. What if I fail and won’t be trying it again? HAHA

With the ingredients ready, I started on Saturday morning! In my own words and you probably should not follow me:

a. I melted the butter on a small fire. Not on a big fire because the butter oil will splatter everywhere if it is heated too strongly.

b. Then I pour milk into the egg and stir.

c. Sifter the flour into the egg milk mixture

d. Add sugar and I actually added strawberry jam into my mixture LOL who cares

e. Filter the undisolved solids out of the mixture

f. Now ready to fry! I used a small sized pan so I poured enough to coat the entire surface. Tilt the pan in circles until all the running mixture solidifies.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

g. Flip the crepe.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Plain
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Strawberry flavoured

h. Make sure both sides have golden brown tints before layering it on a plate.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

i. Coat in between layers strawberry jam and peanut butter.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

j. When you think it’s high enough, you can stop. LOL for me I only had enough batter for a really short one and you can’t even call that a cake? So I cut into half and layer one half atop the other. AND TAADAHHHH I got half a crepe cake!

AND SO HERE WE ARE WITH THIS BUTTERY GOODNESS~

23 Apr ’16: Ah Hong uncle’s birthday ’16

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Morning!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The cactus I bought at IKEA 2 weeks ago. Still doing well!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Though I can’t really say the same for the other one…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Made my room so much fresher and relaxing to the eye

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

3s are better but we wanted to just try with 2.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Pretty! Cactus are easier to care because they require lesser water. I watered the green one too much so it started to rot…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Our lunch that we made! My signature dish! Carrot, Mushroom minced pork with oyster sauce.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And my mom’s signature dish… actually not really HAHA sorry mom. Flora’s mom makes good broccoli so she taught my mom her tips which includes adding some sesame oil to it while cooking.

So today’s my uncle’s birthday! We gathered at his house to celebrate for him! We had a roasted pork/chicken/duck/char siew feast for dinner before we rested to allow some time gap for cake!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Play tablet again… Tsk tsk. Shiok hor?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Testing 1,2,3! My uncle gave me another photography lesson again!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Taught me on how to shoot kids. Smaller objects/people should be nearer to the lens than larger objects/taller people. Gives some balance between the subjects in the photo.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So we got Shanell to be our testing model

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

HAHA

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then we reversed the position. But still looks good HAHA in this case!

It’s nice to have people around who shares the same interest as you. My photography 知己! He sold his camera few years back sadly so he was quite excited to play with mine now that I got one of my own. He was also quite nice to give me his preloved camera stuff so that I can better care and clean my camera.

And then I also have both my cousin and my cousin-in-law who knows how to operate cameras too. They give me advises too so it was quite useful. Like they told me not to leave the battery inside when I am not using and my cousin offered to lend me his F/1.8 lens for a while. Which I didn’t because I was afraid I can’t take care of it well. Thanks guys!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Adrien was like “What about me? Take Shanell never take me!”

Then… IT’S CAKE TIME!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

WAHHH

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Shanell so excited because she planning to blow out the candles before the birthday guy.

It’s my newborn nephew, Shaun’s first month so my cousin held a full month party for him! Was looking forward to it because my intern life has been a dull one and there’s not many plans ever since the Ilight excursion with Cheryl and Flora. So meeting my relatives and the cute ones are what I have been looking forward to a lot!

Congrats on having a new addition to your family! Hope Lucas and Shaun grow up to be the best of brothers! And be handsome!

For the past hour, I took a rest at the patio behind the clubhouse with Flora and my dad. We have been correcting each other’s English. My dad la! Wanted to text someone but got us to proof read his text first. Then we got into a debate about grammar. Dad’s that grammar police who doesn’t even know his grammar. Then we thought where did those 2 kids went for that past hour. It has been so quiet. Then speaking about caocao, caocao arrive LOL.

We walked to the left of the clubhouse again for the toilet. It’s quiet there and we really get the creeps.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

But since it’s so pretty there, we quickly took some photos before we leave.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We were actually afraid of what’s behind the plants but when we went out to look it’s actually a huge back alley to some shops/office outside the condo which are still open.

8 Apr ’16: IKEA Night

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Long day at work but I was treated to some goodies at my aunt’s place. Thanks Ah Mei Jie!

We decided to go for an impromptu IKEA visit while my cousin-in-law were bringing all of us back to Sengkang.

My cousin-in-law  decided to call my uncle along haha but we were all thinking he’d be lying in bed half sleep listening to zen songs already. He’s bored anyway so why not call him since his home is a neighbourhood away. So while cousin-in-law  dropped us at IKEA first as he went to fetch my uncle, we walked a little first.

At the entrance showcase display…

My uncle and cousin-in-law joined us when we were at the kids section which is near the end of the second level. But their focus was level 1 where the goods are all at so I guess it’s okay ba.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We bought some mini cactuses back for decoration. Don’t know if it can last so we just tried with 2. They fetched us and my uncle back home. It was a good night! Had fun. I wanted Ice cream but we were carrying too many things… Really felt like eating IKEA food but the stores were closed except for the snack store… Another day perhaps!

1-2 Apr ’16: The French Table @ Waterway Point

Hey! It’s finally April! It’s already 4 weeks since intern started and there is only 4 more months before I complete my internship! I am nearly 20% done! One-fifth! If it sounds better…

1st April

So 1st April, there was barely any pranking around. Not in the office. But with Zenia around… I swear… Tsk… Who will joke until like that sia? HAHA we all got pranked real hard by this girl. Trust issues with Zenia…

My first April photo! Wearing my newly bought turtleneck. First ever turtleneck. Now I really think I am starting to like turtlenecks. It’s simple yet not overly casual but stylish?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After work, I headed to my cousin’s place. Ir’s Friday so I can go home later and I miss my nieces and nephew too.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

2 April

Met my cousin, my aunt as well as my uncle for dinner at Waterway Point.

Found these pretty leafy backdrop outside the mall and I thought it looked very photogenic.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We then headed to The French Table where there was a $10 set meal Mom told me about. So I saw the photos she took when she visited (yes, without me) and I decided I wanted to try it too.

So I tried out of the 3 main courses available for the day, the pork belly with potato and carrots.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Maybe it’s my personal liking for potatoes and carrots but I liked the dish a lot. The sauce made it yummy but at the same time it’s saltiness made me thirsty. It’s something I will want it again though.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mom’s Aglio also with fish fillet. Lol my mom’s the only plate with half the fillet served. My aunt and uncle’s plate had twice the serving of this fish. Poor mom…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tomato soup from the set meal. It’s a tad sour but it’s fine for me. I find it nice eh haha don’t know why my aunt and cousin don’t like.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Not all my relatives eats tomato soup so they topped up $2 for mushroom soup. Which I thought wasn’t worth it. But then again if tomato soup was served they wouldn’t have drank it and would have wasted the soup.

This mushroom soup had some dairy in it I think? But it tastes great. No foul mushroom smell though there’s a bitter aftertaste to every sip. But they all don’t seem to mind that bitterness and find it delicious. But still I think it’s the 2nd best mushroom soup next to Campbell.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My drinks! Hot green tea!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Iced green tea and Iced lemon tea.

I swear the Iced lemon tea tastes sweet but my cousin just don’t seem to like it. I guess she can’t tolerate sour stuff just like I can’t tolerate even a little spicy.

I think it’s worth it at this price but I still won’t eat it too regularly. It’s very delicious compared to other places that sells not as great food at higher prices. But worth it anot it’s still $11 after gst. Maybe once in a while I can enjoy.

My cousin and I went to shop at Yishion for clothing especially since they had promotions for up to 50% discount. Sounds real tempting so we went in. I bought myself a turtleneck-sweater with red and white stripes.

Mom bought me a lipstick for internship since I had to look at least presentable if I don’t want to wear full makeup. So far I only got a tinted lip balm and the colour was bold pink and I didn’t like it. Thanks Mom!

P.S. Random Thought:

Time reveals everything.

As time goes by, we find ourselves wishing for the past. Something thought of as tough becomes easy now that we experience tougher things.

When we were secondary students, we laughed at the saying “secondary school years will be the most memorable”.

In poly, we wished for our sec school life to come back. We hated how poly was. So practical and forced us to think for the future when all we wanted was to be kids that needed to be spoon fed.

Now as an intern, we realised how poly life was so chill. We hated how tough and taxing intern was.

I don’t like the intern life. Really. But why do I feel I will be wanting my intern life when I eventually come out to work? I’ll laugh at “intern life so chill ah” any day right now. But there are worse things than intern.

There are tougher things but nothing is ever the toughest.

Its funny how we only want it easier but things will always get harder like it or not.

The thought of nothing for me will ever be easier than intern is so depressing.

It’s so hard to be motivated just by the thought that there are harder things and that I should really appreciate my intern life.

I can only wait for the day when things get harder and I’ll start wishing for what I have now.

31 Mar ’16 : Dad’s 56th birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAREST PAPA!

Bet he did not expect a birthday surprise from us. After all, our family was never really into birthdays. The only thing we did for birthdays is sometimes we go out to have a meal. So the birthday cake we surprised him after his long day of work had him surprised!

Can really tell he was super happy. He was grinning throughout the whole celebration and was pretty much not annoyed by my mom’s teasing. Aiyooo haha my mom said “Aiya what birthday? Everyday his birthday ah so happy. Still need birthday for what?” Tsk… But so cute they are still bickering at this age.

I guess things like that really make all of us happy? We will make it a point to do this for years to come. HAHA mom always says she is lazy but I got a feeling she is just shy to celebrate birthdays.

We bought a small cake for us 3. We had to choose between chocolate and strawberry since the bakery opposite only offers 2 flavours for the smaller cakes. So we chose strawberry since not as sweet. Health-conscious choice for the family. But I guess it’s really a once in a while opportunity so why not just enjoy though?

I took photos sia but it got deleted while I tried to transfer it from my phone to the thumbdrive. Sad… Memories… But I still have 2 videos from the night! Oh well I just have to make sure I keep them safe.

26 Mar ’16: JEM & Westgate

Since the weekdays, mom and I have been planning to go to JEM after so long. I kinda like the place and since we hardly go there, it’s novelty is still there for me? So I was so excited  but more excited for the eating bit. We decided on Jack’s Place because it doesn’t have the weekend price markup for the daily set meals and it is worth it for a set of main, dessert, soup with garlic bread and drink for about $12++. And most importantly their delicious curly fries that is also the exact one sold at Mcdonalds. A better deal than Mcs tbh because it might be slightly pricier at $5 but  considering it’s huge portion (probably 2-3x more), it’s a great deal.

Looks great, doesn’t it?

Cream of corn soup!

Garlic Bread.

This is the Dory Fish with pumpkin stick mom ordered. It’s the cheapest among that day’s main courses for the set. Which is what we usually order because the more expensive options are too expensive.

I find the fish delicious but I personally don’t like pumpkin. Maybe it’s good?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Seafood baked rice. This is the middle priced one which I thought was expensive. But hey! Lobster meat, mussels and prawns. If that day’s cheapest dish was something I eat I’d choose that.

My tea and dessert, Strawberry pudding.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Surprisingly, my mom liked it. She never enjoyed sweet stuff and this, being sweet, yet has impressed my mom LOL. I thought it was okay. No idea what the fruit was so I gave that to my mom who liked the fruit.

We then went to the department store to shop. I saw these pretty ornaments at the household department.

I also went to the bookstore to read travel guides. What caught my attention was Amsterdam, Venice and another place which looked very exotic. When will my dream to travel ever come true? I will be the happiest if I can go to my favourite places.

I also got myself a grey turtleneck from H&M for internship at $14.90.

We then moved on to Westgate for dinner. But we did not manage to find a suitable place to eat. It’s either expensive or boring. We ended up distracted by Isetan as well as some fashion outlets where I got more clothings for intern- 2 pairs of skirt, 1 blouse and a casual T-shirt not for intern. 3 of them was for $30 with min. purchase of 3. And the blouse was $40 which was expensive but again, my mom emphasised the importance of quality and told me she rather I buy slightly pricier but good and lasting clothing and not cheap clothings which looked cheap and easily spoiled. So after thinking, I decided to buy it. After all, I can continue wearing it when I go out to work for real.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So after delaying, we finally ate dinner at Toast Box at 8+pm. After that I was dead beat. We decided to just end the day and made our way from West to the East.

Journey from the West.

My dad was at Tampines having dinner so why not just go there and meet him so we can go home together. By the time he finish, we would have reached.

By the time we reached home, it was already 10+pm. Flora was still awake so we skyped for a while after I took a shower.

25 Mar ’16 : Ilight with Mom, Cheryl & Flora

Continued from 25 Mar ’16 : MBS with Mom, Cheryl and Flora

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

8.04pm

Cheryl walked so fast all of us had a hard time catching up, especially mom. But we all didn’t want to miss the show as we just couldn’t find a good spot as we didn’t get to go earlier to chope seats due to dinner. So we ran to quickly get a spot that can just see a part of it. So here we are at the stairs where we can see 1/3 of the whole show. But that’s good enough HAHA it really seemed like a complete show at where we are standing. My mom like quite healthy at 55? She like never out of breath while Flora and I like damn tired. But of course, my mom lives by going out whenever she can. She is used to walking at shopping malls.

The show is so cool but we only managed to catch 2 minutes of it. And the huge crowd kinda distracted me from the show. It would have been better if we got a good view of it and not have to deal with the crowd HAHA. I think I am asking for too much.

Speaking of the crowd, it was so packed we had a hard time navigating. But since we were left with Good Friday to go out together (exhibition ends few days later), guess we have to deal with it.

I think the photos look better in Black and White.

8.14pm

We  started walking away from MBS for the other exhibition sites.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

BEAUTIFUL CBD~ Actually I can actually come here more often since my intern place is actually like not that far away by MRT and bus. Maybe on a Friday night or something where I can actually explore freely with no time limits to take photos and go on an adventure. Too many places I want to go but never got to.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

8.17pm

We walked to the the next place and these bikes drove past us. It’s blasting songs and the lights kinda make the dreadful crowded atmosphere so much happier.

We arrived at this music exhibit where once we cross under a railing, music plays. I think Cheryl and I look like fools (Ehem…sorry, just me?) running across constantly indiscreetly.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

8.20pm

We saw Uncle Ringo right there! Super excited to see those rides that I never tried for 9 years. The last… and only time I went to a theme park was in KL with Flora in 2007 #tbt. Still remembering being pissed at Flora that day I was ignoring her throughout the rides HAHA. My mom never liked the idea of these rides for safety reasons… Yeah my boring childhood…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

8.22pm

We saw this sakura light tree and being the Japanese Culture fanatic she is, Cheryl quickly went to pose in front of it.

Can’t really see her face here…

8.24pm

HAHA toys! Not a fan of that.

8.25pm

We then saw this circle twister ride (?) and we decided to watch it to see what it does since we never see this before.

Meanwhile, Flora’s reaction to it starting…

8.39pm

We finally saw this! I saw my secondary school classmate’s photographer (she’s his model) took a photo of this with his watch  I thought it was quite cool and wanted to try taking a close up shot but we ended up not being able to go near it for long without being pushed. I guess we really chose a bad day?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As far as I can do, I took these.

We walked to the next exhibit… which is the wings photo station. But the queue is super long and we really wanted to walk finish the entire round before 10pm, we forgo that.

9.03pm

Next Stop: The Kaleidoscopic Mirror Room! The place I was actually coming for HAHA.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

9.17pm

Fair Lady~ We have been queuing for about 10 minutes and we are still not even halfway there.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

9.21pm

Quirky.

We queued for so long… like about 20 minutes? But we really wanted this so much we really went to join the queue, otherwise, we wouldn’t have. We finally went in after so long. We were so desperate to go in we peeped into the room through the gaps of the mirrors.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The awful colour lights. Without the editing, her face super pink. Maybe it’s just me that doesn’t like it?

And when the lights turn blue, we all look like smurfs LOL.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

9.24pm

Can you spot me? We finally got in! And all that waiting was so worth it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I like this colour the best! Looks pleasant! It is very hard to capture when the light turns to a certain colour that looks pleasing. Always have to wait for a good timing if you don’t want to look like a Smurf or a tomato. We ended up always waiting for Blue when it turns to white then red. But turns out the best colour after filtering goes to the photos in Purple/Pink light. Which was this photo!

We left the exhibit room and then saw the lights on the trees! I am not sure if this was part of the ilight exhibition or this had always been there? If it isn’t part of the exhibit, I’ll go there again!

9.35pm

We then continued our walk. We made up our mind to stop at Esplanade instead of making an entire round back to MBS since it was getting quite late and my mom was worried of Flora and Cheryl going back home at late night alone after they split at Woodlands.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Look at how far we walked. Mom is still not tired… Flora and I was dead beat.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We found this model exhibit that people are trying to take macro shots of it. So I joined the crowd!

Walking closer to Fullerton Hotel!

9.41pm

We spotted the moon behind the roof garden on top of MBS. It may look small in the photo but in real life it was so unbelievably big we initially thought it was a big white balloon on display until we walked further to see the moon on the left of MBS.

Pretty night life at bars. All Happy Hour-ing.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

These shops were mostly bars and restaurants. They look very chill and it just adds on to the happy nightlife atmosphere there.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

9.49pm

Guess what we saw?! The MERLION! Call me suaku or what but as far as I could remember, I never saw Merlion in real life before. Maybe as a baby or todler I did? I never asked my mom. Anyway, I was super excited because I did not expect the Merlion to be that gigantic. You never know how tall and high something can be until you are at its foot.

10pm

We said goodbye to Flora and Cheryl who took a bus from Esplanade. It will be a long journey so my mom instructed Flora who’s still very young to call when she’s home. Lucky got Cheryl and Flora have each other throughout the long ride. Cheryl is the Jiejie who always goes home from MBS after work to Woodlands so she can take care of Flora.

Mom and I took a bus from the same bus stop to Boon Keng MRT where we took an MRT home. Since we were at Boon Keng, mom and I got ourselves Ice Creams. I liked taking buses, especially at night. Quiet, peaceful and there’s night scenery to enjoy.

11.30pm

Finally home! Edited my photos after bathing and I was quite happy with the photos. After all, all memories must be kept. Silly photos make these memories more worth while because you can always capture that moment of natural happiness. Capture a loved one’s feelings that shows in a photo. Because a photo is more than a thousand words can ever convey.

So today commemorates our second meeting as a trio! Had a fun though tiring day! Looking forward to our next meeting with my cousins! See yall til next time!

May you dream of lovely things and wake to find them real.

25 Mar ’16 : MBS with Mom, Cheryl and Flora

P.S: It will be a super long post so I seperated 250316 in 2 posts- MBS in the evening and Ilight Exhibition at night.

I was scrolling my Facebook page and Cheryl’s ilight post caught my eye. The lights were so pretty and the kaleidoscopic mirror place is so cool! I asked Flora if she wanted to go. We wanted to rope in Cheryl but we thought she wouldn’t want to go a second time. But later Cheryl offered to bring us to the arts exhibition at Arts Science Museum after I posted a photo of our last trip and asking at the captions when can we go out again since it’s been a long time since we all last met. Thank god for the photo! She have friends there and has worked there before as well so she really recommended us to go being the artsy person she is. She is also currently working in one of the retail stores in MBS so she can bring us around after work. And it’s more fun with more people.

Just got myself a digital camera so I was really desperate for a pretty place to take photos. And Ilight is easily the place where photos can turn out very eye-catching. Never did I really tried Night Photography so we were really super on HAHA.

So Flora and I planned the trip for 2 weeks and it was never confirmed due to clashes between my work and Flora’s schooling schedules. Cheryl joined and we chose Good Friday but we expected the huge crowd. Flora had no school… Cheryl was let off earlier at 6pm and I had no work that day. It took me quite some time to convince my mom for me to go. She did not trust me with Flora under my care since she’s 2 years younger. But with Cheryl on board later, she kinda felt more assured and initially agreed until she was worried over the bombing few days before, she nearly did not allow me to go again. But thankfully, she said she can follow along so she feels more assured and less bored.

It turns out we realised we will have to wait super long to go in to the museum since we planned to go on Good Friday which is a public holiday. So we sadly cancelled the museum plans and just go for the external exhibits. Flora and I actually planned to go Gardens by the Bay while waiting for Cheryl to end work at 6 but my dad told me mass for Good Friday starts at 3pm so I had to forgo that plan too.

So finally the day arrived! Dad and I went for mass first. Then my mom and I headed for MBS. I was holding my own bag and another bag for my camera which wasn’t even necessary. I hardly used the camera accessories that day.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We arranged to meet Flora at the MRT. Tsk… she said she will wear nicer for today and asked me to wear better too but what’s with that shirt…

We got into Guess, her favourite shop. She says Guess clothing quality is superior and nothing else is so yeah..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hair flip success!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

She said she wanted to try using the camera for a mirror selfie shot so here it is!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This Guess outlet sold nicer clothes than the other Guess outlets. More younger looking and maybe some classier. But the price is more expensive.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We then walked around to look for our dinner destination and Cheryl’s shop. I like MBS so much it gives off a Venice feel with the boats and architecture.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Ordering from an order form.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cheryl came after she was let off from work. HAHA we still waited for so long after she came…

We finally went in and the food came after a while. We were served warm green tea first and as we waited for the food, Cheryl was telling my mom about her work problems. I guess every workplace has its politics. Anyways, we talked about that and also Flora’s O levels HAHA. Cheryl and I experienced it before so we were all acting senior and giving her tips and advices. And my mom kept asking Cheryl about getting work after graduating as well as getting into university…

And finally, thankfully for the food, their uni conversation was broken and we tucked in… after the 3 of us took photos.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We were all fried rice maniacs so we bought 2 different ones for all of us to share. This is Chicken Chop Fried Rice.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And this is Prawns Fried Rice.

Prawn Siew Mai. Super unique. To be honest, when it first came, I thought it was Xiao Long Bao because it does not look like Siew Mai and it had the soup inside it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Beef ramen. That my mom ordered for herself but actually planned to share it for those who can eat beef. Not me HAHA.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Xiao Long Bao. All of us were trying so hard not to break it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Our favourites. Guo Tie which also has the Xiao Long Bao soup in it. AAnd it’s crispy outside.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We walked towards the exit where there’s a water light show along the river. Cheryl being our tour guide brought us out and looked for a spot where we all can get a view of the show.

To Be Continued~
